Who is JKH

The JKH identity brand is my space where fashion and lifestyle intertwine. I am designer Julia Kaja Hrovat, and I create in my Ljubljana studio – between the Alps and the sea.

Even before the first needle pierced the fabric, I was the architect of my own imaginary worlds. Born in Toronto but raised in Slovenia, I grew up in a home where culture wasn't just a hobby—it was a part of our everyday life. As a child, I spent my days dreaming of secret rooms, imaginary worlds, interiors, and places I hadn't yet known; in my mind, I built my own universe, which I often drew.

My childhood was marked by the intertwining of two worlds: I lived in a "fairytale" version of Slovenian culture, carefully curated by my mother's Canadian mentality, while the world around me was culturally more simple. This space in between became my canvas. Although my creativity was encouraged, I was steered toward a "classic" education; nonetheless, I chose an unconventional path—art school. Even then, I knew what I know today: some stories cannot just be told—they must be felt, sketched, and lived.

As I evolve personally, the JKH brand evolves with me. What began as a fashion brand has grown into a comprehensive world of design. I no longer design just clothes; I invite you into spaces I once only imagined—from the bold volume of a dress on a city street to the thoughtful warmth of textiles in your home. This is an invitation to step out of the everyday and into the world of modern heritage.
