Based on their story, I created a special pattern that I have developed over the years in several color variations. This motif has now become a recognizable symbol of the JKH identity brand, carrying a message of freedom, femininity, and connection to heritage. Therefore, I decided to dedicate a special category to them in the online store, where all products with this print are gathered.
Who are Krivopetnice?
In folk tradition, the Krivopetnice are depicted as beautiful yet wild and mysterious women with long golden hair and an unusual physical mark—their heels are said to be turned backward, allowing them to confuse pursuers and erase their tracks. They live in deep forests, near waters, far from human eyes, where they dance, sing, and protect nature.
In tales, they appear as guardians of women's secrets, independence, and inner strength. Their image is not only mystical but also archetypal—they embody a free, independent female energy connected to the earth and the spiritual world. In the Slovenian tradition, they are symbols of transitions and transformation, serving as a reminder that the balance between humans and nature is not self-evident. When this balance is disturbed, however, they can also become dangerous.
Heritage we carry forwardThe stories of the Krivopetnice are not just a part of the past, and the tales are more than just oral tradition – today, they can also be understood as a symbol of female confidence, intuition, and connection with nature, which takes on new meaning in a time focused on sustainability and inner wisdom.
The Krivopetnice invite us to reflect: What does it mean to be a woman today? How can we maintain a connection with ourselves, with nature, and with the wisdom of the past?
