The collection draws inspiration from the Kamnik legend of Veronika, the proud countess whose vanity transformed her into a half-woman, half-serpent. Yet, the story does not end with punishment—it ends with hope. Beneath the ruins of Mali grad, Veronika still waits for redemption, symbolically holding up a mirror to the modern age.
Is wealth truly worth a curse? Have we, too, fallen into a crack in the rock, blinded by the glitter that conceals the way out? Do we measure values in money while forgetting that what is truly precious costs nothing? The Veronika Collection is a story of transformation, inner strength, and freedom.

LEGENDA, KI ŽIVI ŠE DANES

Kolekcija izhaja iz kamniške legende o Veroniki, ošabni grofici, ki jo je prevzetnost spremenila v pol žensko, pol kačo. A zgodba se ne konča s kaznijo – temveč z upanjem. Veronika pod razvalinami Malega gradu še vedno čaka na odrešitev in simbolno postavlja zrcalo sodobnemu času.

Je denar res vreden prekletstva? Smo tudi mi padli v razpoko skale in nam blišč zakriva izhod? Vrednote merimo v denarju, medtem ko pozabljamo, da tisto, kar je resnično dragoceno, nič ne stane? Kolekcija Veronika je zgodba o preobrazbi, notranji moči in svobodi.

Veronika Collection – JKH Identity

Silhouettes that embrace the body, knitwear and wool coats, shimmering materials and details reminiscent of treasures from the past intertwine with contemporary lightness. The collection is crafted from dead stock materials, with a focus on sustainability and timelessness.

The original patterns are hand-drawn and designed in the medieval castle style of Veronika’s era. They are based on research into Slovenian ornamentation and symbolism, thoroughly studied by Jože Karlovšek, and are printed using eco-friendly techniques on recycled and natural fabrics. The prints tell a story of inner strength, transformation, and Slovenian cultural heritage.

Silhuete, ki objamejo telo, pletenine in volneni plašči, bleščeči materiali in detajli, ki spominjajo na zaklade preteklosti, se prepletajo s sodobno lahkotnostjo. Kolekcija je ustvarjena iz dead stock materialov, z mislijo na trajnost in brezčasnost. Avtorski vzorci so ročno risani in oblikovani v srednjeveškem grajskem slogu Veronikinega časa. Nastali so na podlagi raziskovanja slovenske ornamentike in simbolike, ki jo je temeljito preučeval Jože Karlovšek, ter so natisnjeni z ekološkim tiskom na reciklirane in naravne materiale. Potiski pripovedujejo zgodbo o notranji moči, preobrazbi in slovenski kulturni dediščini.

The premiere presentation of the collection at the 16th edition of LJFW was complemented by headpieces created by Ana Cajhen:

Ana Cajhen, a bearer of the intangible cultural heritage of straw hat-making in the Domžale region, will present her first autumn-winter headwear collection at LJFW. Her pieces, made from discarded felt and recycled plastic, represent an innovative evolution of traditional hat-making craftsmanship. Through this, she creates a dialogue between tradition, personal stories, and contemporary design.

Premierno predstavitev kolekcije na 16. ediciji LJFW so dopolnjevala pokrivala Ane Cajhen: 

Ana Cajhen, nosilka nesnovne kulturne dediščine slamnikarstva na Domžalskem, bo na LJFW prvič predstavila kolekcijo jesensko-zimskih pokrival. Njeni kosi, izdelani iz odpadnih klobučarskih filcev in reciklirane plastike, so inovativna nadgradnja slamnikarskega znanja. S tem ustvarja dialog med tradicijo, osebnimi zgodbami in sodobnim oblikovanjem.

In Kamnik, beneath the ruins of Mali grad, hides Veronika—a beautiful but proud countess who, in her arrogance, cursed herself and was transformed into a half-woman, half-serpent. The legend tells that, in anger, she struck a rock that split open, and she slithered into the darkness through the crack. Yet the story does not end with punishment—but with hope.
Beneath the ruins, Veronika guards a treasure and waits for her redemption. The oak cradle has yet to rock the boy who will one day free her—with warmth and sincerity.

Legenda: VERONIKA IZ MALEGA GRADU

V Kamniku, pod razvalinami Malega gradu, se skriva Veronika – lepa, a ošabna grofica, ki se je zaradi svoje prevzetnosti zaklela in se spremenila v pol žensko, pol kačo. Legenda pravi, da je od jeze udarila v kamen, ki se je razklal, in se skozi razpoko odplazila v temo. A zgodba se ne konča s kaznijo – temveč z upanjem. Veronika pod ruševinami varuje zaklad in čaka na odrešitev. Zibeljka iz hrasta pa še ni zazibala dečka, ki jo bo nekoč rešil – s toplino in iskrenostjo.
