The collection PK_022 is inspired by folk art, found only in Slovenia. Characters from the stories found on the painted beehive endings dance in an intertwining of colours and prints. In 150 years, 50.000 beehive endings were created, which beekeepers once placed on hives to separate them from others. In the second half of the 19th century, motifs that playfully mocked both women and men appeared.
Today, beehive endings are just symbolic, but now the motives adorn JKH identity clothing, full of colours and summer lightness, pointing out the importance of preserving cultural heritage and recognisable Slovenian symbols and motifs.
Clothing made of natural materials are complemented by handmade straw hats, which are sewn by Ana Cajhen on a more than 100-year-old machine. With her straw products, Ana revives the rich history of Domžale. With a modernly designed and light summer collection of clothes and accessories, Julia Kaja Hrovat and Ana Cajhen draw attention to the importance of preserving cultural heritage and encourage the discovery of identity.
