- JKH identity print
Spice up your wardrobe with a JKH identity piece: This print is inspired by painted beehive doors typical for Slovenia. This folk art typical of Slovenia originated in Gorenjska and Koroška, and from there spread throughout Slovenia . The oldest painted beehive doors date back to the middle of the 18th century, after the end of the First World War, painting on beehives ceased. At least 600 different motifs are known, and more than 50,000 beehive doors have been created in 150 years. In the second half of the 19th century, motifs emerged that draw attention to human stupidity and motifs that playfully ridicule men and women. Beekeepers placed them on hives to separate them from others and at the same time protect their bees, especially with secular motifs. Today, beehive endings have only a symbolic meaning. In 2018, “painting beehive doors” was entered in the register of intangible cultural heritage.
