KRIVOPETNICE

Krivopetnice – A Symbol of Power, Freedom, and Slovenian Heritage

Through my brand JKH identity, I have been exploring Slovenian mythology and the rich symbolism rooted in folk tradition for many years. One of the most mysterious and at the same time inspiring figures that accompanies me on this journey are the Krivopetnice. These wild, independent women from folk tales captivated me with their strength, beauty, and deep connection to nature.

Inspired by their story, I created a special pattern, which I have developed over the years in several color variations. Today, this motif has become a recognizable symbol of the JKH identity brand, carrying a message of freedom, femininity, and connection to heritage. That’s why I decided to dedicate a special category to them in my online store, where all products featuring this print are gathered.

Now the time has come to introduce them in words as well.

Who Are the Krivopetnice?

In folklore, the Krivopetnice are depicted as beautiful, yet wild and mysterious women with long golden hair and an unusual physical trait—their heels are said to be turned backward. This allows them to confuse pursuers and erase their tracks. They live deep in the forests, near water, far from human eyes, where they dance, sing, and protect nature.

In stories, they appear as guardians of female secrets, independence, and inner strength. Their image is not only mystical but also archetypal—they embody the free, independent feminine energy connected to the earth and the spiritual world. In Slovenian culture, they are symbols of transitions, transformation, and a reminder that the balance between humans and nature should not be taken for granted. When this balance is disrupted, they can also become dangerous.

A Heritage We Carry Forward

The stories of the Krivopetnice are not just remnants of the past, nor merely oral traditions—they can be understood today as symbols of female self-confidence, intuition, and a deep bond with nature. In our current time, where there is a renewed focus on sustainability and inner wisdom, they take on new meaning.

The Krivopetnice invite us to reflect: What does it mean to be a woman today? How can we maintain a connection with ourselves, with nature, and with the wisdom of the past?

Krivopetnice – simbol moči, svobode in slovenske dediščine

Ta motiv je danes postal prepoznaven simbol znamke JKH identity in nosi sporočilo svobode, ženskosti in povezanosti z dediščino.

Kdo so krivopetnice?
